Based on this picture... clearly TK (Top Kat) is from another realm... he might even be from another lifetime. We're here today to talk about his single "Let It Go" from his forthcoming solo album "The Known Other Realm." If you need any background, TK is a member of Bay Area trio League 510, composed of three emcees also including Mr. Know-it-All and Mont Harper. The group has found some acclaim, being signed to Clear Label records and going on several tours, the most recent being with Souls of Mischief. In my opinion, the League is a new generation Attik type group, with the same level of energy and originality that The Attik had.
The single is reminiscent of Ahmad's "Back in the Day" in my opinion. TK has always been the humorous one in League 510, and while that isn't lost in this song, we also see a more serious side here. He talks about wanting the approval of his father towards his music
... he touches on heartbreak, and these are things that I really like about the track. I think that the subject matter is relatable, and that folks will feel where he's coming from.The production is solid. I'd have loved to hear the bass line brought out a bit more, and the kick to hit harder. I'm really curious to see where the rest of this project goes, as League 510 is known for their "Town Techno" alienesque sound, and this single is a departure from that.
