An Artist SPOTLIGHT! by Dom Jones
Most folks don't know that I lived, for seven years, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. YUP! I'm a California girl whose parents forced her to take a seven year sabbatical in the sticks. It was during this time that I met an organist/vocalist who would become an artist that I have looked up to and admired for many, many years. That artist is Randevyn.
Thus far, I have only spoken about Bay Area acts on this blog. I felt the need to make exception for this artist because I think sometimes we all get confined in our listening to that "Bay Sound." Or for the Oakland folks, the "Town Sound." Randevyn's vocal ability has always inspired me to step it up as a vocalist, and his choice of sound also admonishes us to rethink what the New Gen R&B artist can and will look like. To allow everyone to view his progression, I'm going to post two videos. The first, "Dear Farah," from his debut album SolTrain, was my FAVORITE song from that first album. The second, "Life Support," is also a solid track from his second release The Randevyn Project.
